RESEARCH IN PAIRS

B-splines and CAGD Tools: Geometry and Approximation Perspectives
September 12 – 16, 2016
The purpose of the project is to complete the writing of a book entitled
“B-splines and CAGD Tools: Geometry and Approximation Perspectives”.

The book will be published by Springer International Publishing AG. The aim of the book is to provide an accessible introduction to the mathematical tools in computer aided geometric design (CAGD) especially tuned for people working in Isogeometric Analysis (IgA). IgA is a new paradigm for the numerical treatment of partial differential equations. More than 1000 papers related to IgA has already been published since the seminal paper

T.J.R. Hughes, J.A. Cottrell, Y. Bazilevs, Isogeometric analysis: CAD, finite elements, NURBS,
exact geometry, and mesh refinement, Comput. Meth. Appl. Mech Engrg, 194(2005), 4135-4195.

There is a great need for such a book in the booming IgA community mainly due to the fact that this field is attracting young researchers whlack the proper background and who have difficulty finding appropriate texts. The authors have been asked several times by experts in the field to write such a book.
